Mid Century Impasto Abstract Painting of a Sunny Field
Mid Century Impasto Painting of a sunny field by John Stephen Cipot American (1928-2008). Signed and dated lower left 1969. Cipot became a professor of Art at the University of Connecticut in 1964. Cipot attended Fairfield Prepatory School and then got his degree in Fine Arts at Rhode Island School of Design. He continued his education, receiving a Masters of Fine Arts from University of Southern California. While in California he specialized in pottery and sculpture and was exhibited at Scripps College as well as other locations. He then went into the Navy and served during World War 2. He was also involved in the Naval Artists Civilian program. Many of his works are in the permanent collection of the US Navy Art Collection. During his tenure at University of Connecticut, he exhibited throughout the Northeast at shows during the 1970s and 1980s. His work is in collections throughout the United States, though very rarely comes to the market.
